This picture is eerie and beautiful at the same time. I love the composition, and I believe you captured a truly magical moment on this. I'm German myself, and whenever I hear mention of WWII I flinch inwardly - even though that was way before my time. I am taken aback again and again by the horrible things that happened and all the lives that were lost - therefore I think it's important to keep this "legacy", if you will, of the fallen soldiers, of all the grief at their losses. In your picture you capture, in my opinion, the natural beauty of the scene as well as the fading memories of the horrors of the war. Your photograph is timeless, and I hope that people will still be able to look back and remember in years to come - because when I was about twelve years old, a history teacher told me something: "The most important thing is never to forget. Remember what was in the past, and use that to build your identity. What our ancestors did is a part of who we are - it's our choice to see what we make of it."
Thank you for making me remember, and thank you for sharing this wonderful picture.
